The Columbine area in Jefferson County encompasses one of the Denver metro’s most established and well-loved residential communities, with housing that stretches from the South Platte River to the foothills along C-470. Most of the homes here were built between 1965 and 1985, and they represent some of the best candidates for hardwood flooring upgrades and refinishing in the entire metro. Brothers Flooring has been working in this corridor for over 30 years, and our crew has specific, hands-on knowledge of the construction styles, subfloor conditions, and housing characteristics that define flooring work in the Columbine area.
The Columbine area is defined by its mid-century and late-20th-century residential character. Ranch homes, split-levels, and tri-levels built between 1965 and 1985 make up the majority of the housing here, many of them with original hardwood floors under carpet that homeowners discover during remodels and renovations. Brothers Flooring is NWFA-certified and every project is performed by experienced, insured professionals from start to finish. We understand this neighborhood and the specific challenges its housing presents.
Homes built in the 1960s and 1970s in the Columbine area were frequently constructed with original hardwood flooring as standard, often hidden under layers of carpet installed in later decades. When homeowners pull up old carpet, they frequently find intact red oak or fir floors with decades of sanding life still in them. Refinishing these original floors restores character that new construction simply cannot replicate, and it costs a fraction of replacement. Brothers Flooring has refinished hundreds of these floors across the Columbine area and knows exactly what to expect.
The split-level and tri-level homes common throughout the Columbine area present specific flooring challenges. Multiple level transitions, varying subfloor conditions between floors, and the staircases connecting them all require careful planning and execution. We install hardwood transitions between levels, address subfloor height differences that accumulate over decades, and match new flooring to existing original floors where homeowners want continuity across renovated spaces.
Brothers Flooring offers the full range of hardwood services that Columbine homeowners need, from uncovering and refinishing original floors to installing new hardwood in spaces that never had it.
Refinishing is the highest-value service we provide in the Columbine area, because so many of the original floors here are excellent candidates. Our 97% dust-free process means your household stays functional throughout the job, with no need to move out during the project. We apply water-based finishes that resist UV yellowing under Colorado’s intense sun, providing a protective coat that holds up through the seasonal humidity swings that cause surface cracking in oil-based products over time.
For spaces that were never hardwood, or where original floors are beyond refinishing, we install new solid and engineered hardwood using nail-down, glue-down, or floating methods based on your subfloor type. We help you select species, width, and finish based on your home’s existing character and the natural light patterns in each room.
Hardwood flooring in the Columbine area’s older homes frequently shows signs of past water damage near bathrooms, kitchens, and exterior doors. We assess the source before beginning any repair work, because repairing floor damage over an unresolved moisture issue simply recreates the problem. Proper diagnosis and correction of the root cause is part of every repair job we perform.
The original red oak floors common in Columbine’s older homes set a standard that new flooring selections often try to match. Red oak remains a strong choice for its warm undertones and ability to blend with traditional interior styles. White oak has become increasingly popular for homeowners who want a more contemporary look while maintaining the warm character of solid hardwood. Hickory is an excellent choice for active families, particularly in homes with pets or children, because of its exceptional hardness and natural visual variation that hides wear.
Brothers Flooring serves homeowners throughout the Columbine area, including Columbine Valley, Ken Caryl Ranch, Williamsburg, Dutch Creek Village, Governor’s Ranch, Aspen Grove, Deer Creek Mesa, and the established neighborhoods along South Platte Canyon Road. We also serve the properties in Columbine Knolls, Columbine West, and the communities south of Bowles Avenue toward C-470. Each neighborhood has its own mix of housing ages and construction styles, and we bring specific local knowledge to every estimate.
We hold an A+ BBB rating, have won the Best in Safety award three times, and are recommended by Tom Martino. We have been working in this neighborhood for over three decades, and many of our Columbine-area clients come to us through neighbors and family referrals. We never require an upfront deposit, and stay on the job until it is done right. Call us to schedule your in-home consultation.

“Wow- Brothers Flooring did incredible work on our 1920s house with a mid-century addition. We pulled up some terribly installed vinyl, planning to install laminate instead, and were thrilled to discover original hardwood underneath! However, several wood flooring specialty contractors declined to take on the job and encouraged us to start over with all new wood on top of the original planks, mostly due to damage to some of the unusual boards (2" wide by 1/2" thick tongue-in-groove red oak vs. modern 2.25" wide by 3/4" thick boards), some very weird and uneven subfloor from who knows when, and our desire to extend the wood flooring to include the kitchen area, which previously had stick-on tile with crappy vinyl on top. Enter Brothers Flooring, my last hope to keep the original wood: they arrived on-time for the estimate and talked through our options for addressing the complex subfloor situation, damaged portions of unusual boards, and our hope to extend the wood to include the open kitchen area. They were quickly able to special-order the uncommon wood and were clear in communicating the timeline, allowing us to plan around when work would begin. Chad did all of the work on our floors, and I see why he's the go-to guy for such complex jobs! He has been doing this for almost as long as I've been alive, and the experience shows in how he was able to make our uneven subfloor meld with the existing floor, braid in new boards to replace damaged portions, work with the addition, and carefully sand down the thin original wood to give it a beautiful finish. Chad was clear in communicating the plan, gave ample updates on progress, and answered the many questions I had throughout the process. Our house feels so much brighter, warmer, and we are so glad we were able to keep the original hardwood floors! I highly recommend Brothers Flooring for any project you have.”
“We recently had a major flooring project completed by Brothers Flooring and are thrilled with the outcome. The entire experience, from initial consultation to final inspection, was exceptional, and the results have exceeded our expectations! A huge part of this success is thanks to our technician, Chad! Chad's attention to detail was truly remarkable. He was incredibly meticulous and thorough, demonstrating a clear commitment to quality by taking great care throughout the entire installation process. This level of precision gave us complete confidence in the work being done. Beyond his technical skill, Chad was a pleasure to work with. He was professional, personable, and made the whole process stress-free. He was easy to work with and patiently addressed all our questions and concerns, ensuring we understood every step. The finished floors are absolutely beautiful and instantly elevated the look and feel of our home! We highly recommend Brothers Flooring and specifically commend Chad for his outstanding service.”
“Brothers did a fabulous job! Marco was great to work with during the process. He answered all my questions, no matter how many, and kept me informed on the progress, start and finish times every day. My new floor is beautiful and being laced into the existing kitchen/dining and entry hardwoods makes them look like one floor. Every one I worked with from estimate to completion was wonderful. I would recommend Brothers to anyone and can’t wait to show off my new floor to family and friends.”
“We just had Brothers Flooring add hardwood flooring into our home. I highly recommend them. The whole experience from a competitive quote, quality materials, to outstanding workmanship. We are so happy with the outcome. I also don’t think I’ve seen anyone work harder than Anthony did throughout the entire job! Each day he arrived punctually, informed me about the jobs he would be completing that day, and time frames needed for drying etc. Thank you so much!”
“We had Brothers Flooring install hardwood on our main floor and then had them come back and install hardwood on our stairs and LVP on our second floor. We absolutely love our new floors! Marco went above and beyond! He was so professional, and we loved working with him. We couldn’t be happier, and would highly recommend them.”
