Cottonwood sits at 6,100 feet in the Arkansas River Valley, where the elevation, dry air, and dramatic seasonal shifts create real challenges for hardwood flooring that most contractors simply are not prepared to handle. Brothers Flooring brings 30 years of hardwood expertise and NWFA-certified craftsmanship to homes across Cottonwood and the surrounding mountain communities. From Mountain View Estates to Old Town Cottonwood and Pine Ridge, we install hardwood floors that are built to last in Colorado’s demanding climate. No shortcuts, and no deposit required until the morning of your final coat.
Installing hardwood flooring at elevation requires a deeper level of technical knowledge than standard installation. Cottonwood’s dry conditions and freeze-thaw cycles place significant stress on wood that has not been properly conditioned before installation.
At Cottonwood’s elevation, hardwood must acclimate to the local environment before a single board is fastened down. Colorado’s low humidity causes wood to lose moisture, which can result in shrinkage, gapping, or cupping if the acclimation period is cut short. We account for wider expansion gaps and extended conditioning time to ensure your floor moves with your home through every season rather than against it.
Radiant heating systems are common in Colorado mountain homes, and not all hardwood species or installation methods are compatible with them. Engineered hardwood and certain solid wood species perform best over radiant systems because they handle the repeated warming and cooling cycles without excessive movement. We assess your subfloor, heating system, and moisture levels before recommending the right product and fastening method for your specific setup.
Choosing the right species is one of the most important decisions in any hardwood flooring installation, and in Cottonwood’s dry Colorado climate, stability matters most. Some species handle low humidity far better than others.
Our hardwood flooring refinishing process uses a 97% dust-free sanding system and water-based, non-toxic finishes. At elevation, polyurethane curing times extend significantly, and we build that into every project timeline so there are no surprises. Homeowners in Historic District and Riverfront properties with older wood floors can expect their floors restored to like-new condition without the disruption of moving out or dealing with harsh chemical fumes.
Seasonal humidity swings and the occasional water event can cause boards to warp, crack, or separate over time. Our hardwood flooring repair services address everything from isolated board replacement to full structural repairs caused by water damage. We also handle fire and flood restoration for homeowners who need a trusted, insured crew to get their floors back in order. We stay on your job until it is done right, not just done.
Warm, mid-tone stains in brown and honey finishes have remained popular in Colorado mountain architecture for decades, and for good reason. They complement natural wood trim, stone accents, and the surrounding landscape without feeling dated. Classic wide-plank white oak in natural or lightly fumed tones works beautifully in Cottonwood Pass and Mountain View Estates homes where the design leans toward a relaxed, organic aesthetic.
We proudly serve homeowners and property owners throughout Cottonwood, including Old Town Cottonwood, Pine Ridge, Valley View, Riverside, Mountain View Estates, and the Historic District. Our service area extends across the Arkansas River Valley toward the Collegiate Peaks corridor and communities near San Isabel National Forest. If you are ready to talk about a new installation, refinishing, or repair project, reach out to Brothers Flooring and get a straightforward conversation with a craftsman, not a salesperson.

Cottonwood homeowners turn to Brothers Flooring for dependable service and exceptional hardwood flooring results. See what they have to say:
“Wow- Brothers Flooring did incredible work on our 1920s house with a mid-century addition. We pulled up some terribly installed vinyl, planning to install laminate instead, and were thrilled to discover original hardwood underneath! However, several wood flooring specialty contractors declined to take on the job and encouraged us to start over with all new wood on top of the original planks, mostly due to damage to some of the unusual boards (2" wide by 1/2" thick tongue-in-groove red oak vs. modern 2.25" wide by 3/4" thick boards), some very weird and uneven subfloor from who knows when, and our desire to extend the wood flooring to include the kitchen area, which previously had stick-on tile with crappy vinyl on top. Enter Brothers Flooring, my last hope to keep the original wood: they arrived on-time for the estimate and talked through our options for addressing the complex subfloor situation, damaged portions of unusual boards, and our hope to extend the wood to include the open kitchen area. They were quickly able to special-order the uncommon wood and were clear in communicating the timeline, allowing us to plan around when work would begin. Chad did all of the work on our floors, and I see why he's the go-to guy for such complex jobs! He has been doing this for almost as long as I've been alive, and the experience shows in how he was able to make our uneven subfloor meld with the existing floor, braid in new boards to replace damaged portions, work with the addition, and carefully sand down the thin original wood to give it a beautiful finish. Chad was clear in communicating the plan, gave ample updates on progress, and answered the many questions I had throughout the process. Our house feels so much brighter, warmer, and we are so glad we were able to keep the original hardwood floors! I highly recommend Brothers Flooring for any project you have.”
“We recently had a major flooring project completed by Brothers Flooring and are thrilled with the outcome. The entire experience, from initial consultation to final inspection, was exceptional, and the results have exceeded our expectations! A huge part of this success is thanks to our technician, Chad! Chad's attention to detail was truly remarkable. He was incredibly meticulous and thorough, demonstrating a clear commitment to quality by taking great care throughout the entire installation process. This level of precision gave us complete confidence in the work being done. Beyond his technical skill, Chad was a pleasure to work with. He was professional, personable, and made the whole process stress-free. He was easy to work with and patiently addressed all our questions and concerns, ensuring we understood every step. The finished floors are absolutely beautiful and instantly elevated the look and feel of our home! We highly recommend Brothers Flooring and specifically commend Chad for his outstanding service.”
“Brothers did a fabulous job! Marco was great to work with during the process. He answered all my questions, no matter how many, and kept me informed on the progress, start and finish times every day. My new floor is beautiful and being laced into the existing kitchen/dining and entry hardwoods makes them look like one floor. Every one I worked with from estimate to completion was wonderful. I would recommend Brothers to anyone and can’t wait to show off my new floor to family and friends.”
“We just had Brothers Flooring add hardwood flooring into our home. I highly recommend them. The whole experience from a competitive quote, quality materials, to outstanding workmanship. We are so happy with the outcome. I also don’t think I’ve seen anyone work harder than Anthony did throughout the entire job! Each day he arrived punctually, informed me about the jobs he would be completing that day, and time frames needed for drying etc. Thank you so much!”
“We had Brothers Flooring install hardwood on our main floor and then had them come back and install hardwood on our stairs and LVP on our second floor. We absolutely love our new floors! Marco went above and beyond! He was so professional, and we loved working with him. We couldn’t be happier, and would highly recommend them.”
